Cisco Phone service, including Jabber, to be retired Sept. 15
The two-year project to move the University's phone service from outdated Cisco hardware to Zoom Phone is nearly complete. Migrations are complete for the main campus and regional campuses, and the Health Sciences campus migration is substantially complete. Remaining work includes cleanup and additional coordination with WVU Medicine IT to transition WVU Medicine users who were previously on the University’s phone network to the WVU Medicine phone network.
Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 15, the University’s Cisco phone system will no longer receive technical support, maintenance, or updates. If you have not migrated to Zoom Phone, contact the ITS Service Desk as soon as possible for assistance and guidance on your next steps.
The University's phone system – which is migrating from Cisco to Zoom Phone – is separate from WVU Medicine's phone system. Since last November, WVU ITS has worked with WVU Medicine IT to identify which phone lines will stay with the University’s phone system and which will transition to WVU Medicine’s phone system. WVU Medicine is managing its own phone migration for its users.
