Allied Health Solutions Specialty Pharmacy earns accreditation for infusion services

The Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) recently accredited the Allied Health Solutions Specialty Pharmacy for infusion pharmacy services, including sterile compounding.

Allied Health Solutions Specialty Pharmacy, located in Morgantown, W.Va., fills prescriptions for patients with unique and complicated medical conditions. It works with insurance companies and physicians to make sure patients have timely access to medication, and provides clinical guidance to ensure medication is administered safely. Its goal is to simplify and improve the treatment process.

Last August, the Specialty Pharmacy expanded its services to include infusion therapies. By providing outpatient home infusion services, patients are able to receive intravenous or subcutaneous infusions for a wide range of acute and chronic health conditions without traveling to a clinic or infusion center.

In earning accreditation, the Specialty Pharmacy has demonstrated that it operates at a level of quality, integrity, and effectiveness consistent with ACHC standards and marks a commitment to providing quality care. This new accreditation for infusion pharmacy services is in addition to Allied Health Solutions’ existing accreditation with ACHC for specialty pharmacy services, attained in 2019.

“The accreditation through ACHC not only demonstrates our commitment and ability to provide comprehensive quality care to our home infusion patients but it also allows us to expand our reach with those patients,” Louis Sokos , director of Specialty Pharmacy Services, said. “The accreditation is necessary for our home infusion operation to become credentialed with various commercial insurances for our patients to be able to utilize our services.”

The infusion pharmacy services accreditation is effective through May 22. On that date, ACHC will begin the process of re-accreditation for both infusion pharmacy services and specialty pharmacy services to synchronize these three-year accreditation cycles.
