WVU Hosts a successful Inaugural WVU Surgical and Interventional Endoscopy (WISE) Conference

Inaugural WVU Surgical and Interventional Endoscopy (WISE) Conference, held at the scenic Nemacolin Resort on April 26-27 was a resounding success, drawing over 250 participants from across the nation. The conference showcased 12 live endoscopy cases, transmitted directly from the WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital, highlighting the latest advancements, state-of the art endoscopy procedures and exceptional patient care provided at WVU. The live endoscopy cases provided a unique real-time learning experience, demonstrating the high-level capabilities of the team at WVU Medicine’s Advanced Center for Endoscopy.

Internationally acclaimed experts led a series of insightful lectures, disseminating knowledge on the forefront of endoscopic research and the latest in procedural innovation. A standout moment was the keynote address by Dr. Christopher Thompson, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, who eloquently presented on "Expanding Horizons of Endoscopic Surgery: Innovations, Advances, and Future Directions," capturing the imaginations of all present. Day two of the WISE Conference featured a hands-on course allowing direct interaction between the attendees and preeminent experts. This session provided a tangible experience of the newest endoscopic technologies, deepening the understanding of the field's rapid advancements. The academic rigor of the conference was harmoniously blended with leisure, as the idyllic Nemacolin setting offered an array of relaxation options, making the event not only intellectually stimulating but also exceptionally pleasant.

Hosted by WVU Medicine and the WVU Department of Medicine Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the conference marks a milestone in Gastroenterology conferences.
